First of all thanks for checking
this page out... if you're here then you've probably seen the adverts
looking for a bass player and drummer.... here's some more info....
The idea is to rehearse as a band
during August and September, playing a couple of gigs during this period
to help tighten up and get photos of us playing live (for promo use)....
The tour is being booked for the later months of the year i.e. October
onwards.... The plan is to do blocks of 2 or 3 dates at a time over the
weekends, and then return home for the weekend. Doing it this way
maximizes the profits, as the grouped dates will be in same part of the
country.
The Show itself
We have designed a show concept which is based
on presenting a high-quality performance both sonically and visually.
The songs will be well rehearsed with an emphasis on uptempo tracks that
will be familiar to the majority of the people in the audience. The bulk
of material will be rock classics. One song that springs to mind is
Sweet Child Of Mine by Guns 'n' Roses, which everybody knows and seems
to like. While I'm not necessarily a fan of Bon Jovi, I can see at least
one of their numbers slipping into the set list. The aim here is to
crowd-please, so that everybody leaves happy, the venue operators are
happy, and we get paid.... when we phone round to book our next date at
the venue we'll be able to up our fee.
A lot of how an audience perceives the band is
down to appearance. At lot of emphasis will be placed on presenting a
good "rock image", not just wearing an old band t-shirt... we
need to outdress the audience! Basically anything that looks
over-the-top offstage generally looks pretty cool onstage. When a band
looks the part, the punters get into it more. We want to look and sound
better than the other rock cover bands out there.... another league....
Accomodation
This will be in cheap B&B's, on friend's
floors, and occasionally in the van or cars! This is a relatively
low-end tour so we need to minimize expenditure!
Money
Don't expect to suddenly start making
thousands. This is a new venture and needs to get established before
really good money is made. In these early days we need to come across as
a band that knows what they're doing, so we can impress the venue
promoters and hopefully get in with an agent who can help us along.
There will be no guarantees regarding how much many we'll make each
weekend because basically it's all down to attendances. The band will be
marketed to venues with professionally made promo material and various
made-up quotes about how good we are, which can help when it comes to
negotiating our fee.
